More information can be found on our website at www.cadtd.com or our Facebook page! Cost is $15/person. RSVP must be received by May 14, 2010. Hope to see you there! The following are the nominees for the corresponding awards:

Director of the Year
  1. Janna Lindenberg - Diamond Bar High School: Janna Lindenberg is honored to be in her 9th year teaching at Diamond Bar High School. As a DBHS dance team alum she knows how important the dance team experience can be to a High School student. New adventures include pioneering the competitive All Male Dance Team at Diamond Bar. Janna is appreciative for the talented students that make her job fun! She is also thankful to all advisors that help to pass on the legacy of dance.
  2. Jeane McPhee - San Clemente High School
  3. Lisa Battin - Arlington High School
  4. Lysa PeCoy - Santiago High School: I have been working with kids for over 20 year. First as a pediatric nurse, then a teachers assistant, and lastly as a coach for Santiago Dance Team in Corona. I starded coaching 6 years ago when my daughter was a senior on the team. My background in dance includes being on my gymnastics team in high school, and many years in ballet training. The dance program at Santiago, in my years as Director/Coach, has grown tremendously. My passion for the art has kept me pushing it forward to give high school students a place where they can share their talent and learn how important a team is.
  5. Shea Runge - El Dorado High School: I began coaching dance at 17, just fresh out of high school. I co-coached my first dance team at Fountain Valley high school in 1992, and then took a few years off to choreograph for various schools and studios in Orange County. In 1997 I began coaching and advising the Los Alamitos HS dance team and stayed there until 2002 when I decided to take a coaching job closer to home. It was then that I was hired at El Dorado as a walk on coach. In 2007 I earned my bachelors and credential and was hired on as a full time dance teacher and dance team/ cheer advisor for El Dorado. In June of 2009, I was released from El Dorado due to budget cuts, but rehired in the same district by brand new school Yorba Linda HS. Currently I am teaching dance, careers, and PE at YLHS in addition to advising the dance team at El Dorado. At the end of this school year I will be finishing up my Masters in Education, and have decided to retire from coaching high school dance teams as I will be starting a new chapter in my life as an ASB assistant. I will however, continue to teach dance and am excited to create a non competitive dance company at Yorba Linda HS.
Rookie Director of the Year
  1. Brianne Allard - Santa Margarita Catholic High School
  2. Kendra Alvarez - Esperanza High School: Kenndra Alvarez has been apart of the world of dance since she was two years old. She grew up training at Dance Precisions in Placentia where she is now a teacher/choreographer. She has won numerous awards as a competition dancer and choreographer. Kenndra is graduating from Cal State Fullerton in May majoring in Health Science. During her time there she was on the National Championship Dance Team for three years and she is now the choreographer for the team. Her choreography just won the national title at both UDA College Nationals and USA College Nationals. Kenndra is also the coach and advisor for the Esperanza Dance Team.
  3. Kenny Kuo - Glen A Wilson High School
  4. Lindsey Hanscome - Dana Hills High School: Lindsey Hanscome holds a Bachelor of Fine Art in Art History from UCLA and she has recently completed her Masters in Education and her single subject teaching credential in the area of dance, physical education and health.  In high school, she was awarded the titles of Miss USA Nationals, Miss Dance Drill Team California and 4th Runner up to Miss Dance Drill Team United States.  While in college, Lindsey danced professionally in Los Angeles as a member of the UCLA Dance Team.  Lindsey choreographed competition routines for both on campus venues and off campus venues.  She appeared on Fox Sports Television shows, danced for Disneyland and was a featured dancer in the Choreographers Ball in Los Angeles.  Lindsey trained extensively and was on a dance scholarship program at the Dance Center, formerly known as Tremaine’s Studio of Dance.  She studied with teachers such as Dee Caspary, Mandy Moore, Sal Vassallo, Doug Caldwell, Desiree Robbins, Joelle Martinec, Scott Hislop and Malaya Ho.  After college Lindsey began coaching within the High School Dance Team arena.  While coaching, her team was awarded 1st Place for their “Small Lyrical” dance in the USA Nationals Championship Division.  In addition to teaching dance, Lindsey also judges for USA and CADTD dance competitions.  She has choreographed for several high school dance teams and continues to do so in the Southern California area.  Lindsey is proud to be in her first year of teaching at Dana Hills High School in Dana Point, CA.  She runs the dance program and dance team and hopes to continue to develop the dance program within her school.  She is also a teacher at South Coast Performing Arts based out of Tustin and is currently on staff with the United Spirit Association.
Competition Director of the Year
  1. Gail Milby -Mater Dei High School
  2. Jennifer Shetland - Sonora High School: As a dance educator for the past 18 years, she has thoroughly immersed herself in the field of performing arts.  She is starting her fourth year at Sonora High School but has taught students ranging from elementary age through college levels.  In addition to teaching dance full time at Sonora, she runs the Dance/Drill Team, Dance Production, and the newly added IB/Honors course.  She has served on the board of the California Association of Dance Drill Team Directors (CADTD) for the past 15 years and has adjudicated competitions and festivals throughout the state of California.  She has a Master of Arts in Dance from the California State University Long Beach, which has one of the most prominent dance departments in the United States.
  3. Kelli Murphy - Aliso Niguel High School: I am a chemistry teacher by nature, who accidentally fell into this position 8 years ago. When a friend of mine was leaving for another school, she suggested I take her position as Drill Team Advisor. She said it was an easy gig, and all you had to do was show up to a few competitions. I didn’t have any real dance experience, but just showing up is definitely not my style, so I hit the ground running. I started out as just the advisor, but eventually took on the position of coach and advisor, and then finally director. I now have two teams, Drill Team and Dance Appreciation Hip Hop Team, along with two booster clubs, and four assistant coaches. I recently began hosting my own competition, the Aliso Dance Classic. My goal for each and every year is to make it better than the last one, and so far I have achieved this goal each year. I am so happy that I came on board, and I have thoroughly enjoyed every second! I wouldn’t give this up for anything!
  4. Mark Stone - Ayala High School: Mark Stone has been the director of bands at Ayala High School since they opened in 1990. During this time he has received many awards and accolades including Ayala High School 1999 ‘Teacher of the Year’ and recipient of the Fidelity Investments ‘Inspire The Future’ award in 2006. He is presently an adjudicator of Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA), a cofounder of Southern California Percussion Alliance (SCPA) and Vice President of Western Band Association (WBA). Mr. Stone received his Bachelor of Arts degree and Credential at California State University, Los Angeles. While at Ayala the program has enjoyed many successes including; 1997-2010 WGI Percussion Finalists, 1999-2002 SCPA Percussion Gold Medalists-World class, 1999 WGI Percussion Gold Medalists-A class, 2000-Present WBA Championship Finalists (marching band), 2004 WGI Concert Percussion Silver Medalists, 2004 BOA Grand National Championship Finalists, 2006 BOA Regional Champion-Flagstaff, 2006-2009 BOA Regional Champion-Los Angeles, WGI Concert Percussion Scholastic World Champions, 2006-07 and 09-10, WGI Percussion Scholastic World Champions, 2010. Ayala has been hosting the ‘Festival In The Hills’ court competition since 1993. It started out as an ‘independent’ but begin our relationship with CADTD about 5 years ago. We are pleased to be able to offer the teams (students, advisors and parents) an educational performance opportunity here at Ayala.
  5. Michele Allen - NRG Dance and Cheer: Michele Allen is the CEO of the illustrious NRG Dance & Cheer (formally Southwestern Specialty Clinics), a successful national-level competition organization program. Incidentally, many of Michele's great NRG dance/drill team competitions served as important scouting sites for the Creative Precision Awards. She is a respected figure in the world of dance/drill, having stepped off of a successful run as the adviser of the multi award-winning Claremont High School. She has worked as an entertainer, served extensively as a competition/pageant judge (including as part of the distinguished panel for Miss Dance Drill Team USA) & is an all-around beloved personality in the world of dance/drill team. Her first-hand know-how in military precision is a prominent one, with her Claremont military team having been well-known as an innovative & award-winning military squad until her retirement as their coach; which, to date, has evolved into an award-winning dance program, no doubt due in large part to Ms. Allen's enduring legacy. Currently at the helm of NRG, she has since taken the program globally to such countries as Australia & is slated this season to make her mark in the great state of Hawai'i. It's no surprise that much of her many talents and entertainment/Pep Arts know-how seemed to naturally rub-off on key people in her immediate life: her daughter, Roberta, co-runs NRG, while another daughter Michele went on to become a member of the famous USC Song Team (& was featured on E! Entertainment's cheerleading special). She also has a multi-talented son, Robert, a trained actor, singer & seasoned competition emcee (who shares a special distinction with judge Rome Bautista: both are former hosts of the Miss Dance Drill Team USA Pageant). Michele continuously parlays her effective business savvy & impressive body of knowledge toward building the NRG system. Because of her hard work, NRG is on the rise to become one of the fastest growing competition dance/drill team programs in the national circuit.
  6. Shea Runge - El Dorado High School: I began coaching dance at 17, just fresh out of high school. I co-coached my first dance team at Fountain Valley high school in 1992, and then took a few years off to choreograph for various schools and studios in Orange County.
